Make A Gift Of Art

When you give art, you help to enrich the Kunsthalle’s collection while ensuring your works are shown in a worthy setting. Through gifts, the Kunsthalle can also tell the stories of Hamburg collectors.

The cornerstone for our collection was laid in 1863 by the bequest of the art dealer Ernst Georg Harzen, comprising over 30,000 first-class drawings and engravings, together with a financial bequest from Carl Heine in 1865 that enabled many paintings to be purchased. To this day, the high-calibre collection still continues to expand through private gifts.

Ever since its founding, the Hamburger Kunsthalle has accorded special recognition for important gifts and bequests, and the names
of major donors have been immortalised on stone plaques in the rotunda.

Our appreciation for your commitment
There are many ways to lastingly support the Hamburger Kunsthalle and do good for future generations. The Hamburger Kunsthalle can demonstrate its appreciation in many different ways – from a mention in the annual report and on the website, to invitations to exclusive events such as the Director’s Dinner, the provision of an annual admission ticket, and immortalisation on the donor plaque.
